چکیده

We report design optimization of a dual-core dispersion slope compensating fiber (DSCF) for broadband dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) transmission separately in the S-, C-, and L-bands through a 1310 nmoptimized conventional single-mode fiber (CSF). Index profile parameters of the DSCF have been adjusted to simultaneously achieve a mode effective area, which match that of the G.652 fiber as closely as possible in order to contain potentially detrimental nonlinear propagation effects like four-wave mixing and cross-phase modulation (XPM). Theoretical figure of merit of the designed dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) is ~ 900 ps/(nm-dB) @ 1550 nm, and its estimated bend loss for a single turn bend diameter of 32 mm is negligible.

Dispersion Compensating Fiber Modules for Dispersion-Shifted Fiber

A dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF) is designed to have its zero dispersion wavelength in 1.55μm wavelength range. Since the dispersion of DSF is close to zero in the C-band, conditions for dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) transmission using DSF are limited due to four wave mixing (FWM). In the L-band, however, the DSF has some dispersion values, so that the DWDM transmission using DS...

Design of Endlessly Single Mode Photonic Crystal Fibers with Desirable Properties using HC-EDA Algorithm

In this article, Hill Climbing (HC) and Estimation of Distribution Algorithm (EDA) are integrated to produce a hybrid intelligent algorithm for design of endlessly Single Mode Photonic Crystal Fibers (SMPCFs) structure with desired properties over the C communication band. In order to analyzing the fiber components, Finite Difference Frequency Domain (FDFD) solver is applied. In addition, a spe...

Chromatic dispersion profile optimization of dual-concentric-core photonic crystal fibers for broadband dispersion compensation.

Chromatic dispersion profile of dual-concentric-core photonic crystal fibers is optimized for broadband dispersion compensation of single mode fibers (SMFs) by using genetic algorithm incorporated with full-vector finite-element method. From the numerical results presented here, it is found that by increasing the distance between central core and outer ring core, larger negative dispersion coef...

Segmented-core Single Mode Optical Fiber with Ultra-large-effective-area, Low Dis- Persion Slope and Flattened Dispersion for Dwdm Optical Communication Systems

In this paper we present designs of fibers having non-zero positive, non-zero negative and near-zero ultra-flattened dispersion with small dispersion slope and ultra-large effective area over a wide spectral range. The designs consist of a concentric multilayer segmented core followed by a trench assisted cladding and a thin secondary core. The central segmented core helps in maintaining desire...

Design of Single Mode Photonic Crystal Fiber with Outstanding Characteristics of Confinement Loss and Chromatic Dispersion over S to L Communication Band

In this article, a novel structure of photonic crystal fiber with nearly zero ultra-flattened chromatic dispersion and ultra-low confinement loss is presented. By replacing the circular air-holes of two first rings with the elliptical air-holes, a fiber with outstanding features of chromatic dispersion and confinement loss is designed. The proposed structure is optimized for operating in a wide...
